They recently opened a web teaser and Twitter account to announce that the manga Made in Abyss by Akihito Tsukushi will receive an animated television adaptation.
Masayuki Kojima (Black Bullet, Tibetan Dog) will be the director of the anime under Kinema Citrus. Hideyuki Kurata (Samurai Flamenco, Kaminomi) will be in charge of the series composition, while Kazuchika Kise (Ghost in the Shell: Arise Alternative Architecture) will design the characters.
In history we find a world in which the only unexplored place is a huge well and system of caves called the "Abyss". In its depths lie strange and wonderful creatures, being replete with relics that humans today are unable to create. The mysteries of the Abyss fascinate humans, who come down to explore it. Those who venture into their depths are known as "Cave Raiders". A little orphaned girl named Rico lives in Osu, a village at the edge of the Abyss, and her dream is to become a Cave Raider as her mother was to solve the mysteries that await there. One day, exploring the caves, Rico discovers a robot that looks like a human child.
Tsukushi was launching the manga on the Takeshobo Comic Gamma website in 2012, and his fifth compilation tome will go on sale December 26th.
