Five Japanese animated films compete for an Oscar nomination
From the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences they have revealed their list of animated short films to aspiring nominees for the Oscars in their next 90th edition. Among the films we find several of Japanese production, but only a maximum of five of them will finally receive the nomination to compete for the award.

Last year a total of 27 films were submitted to aspire to a nomination, including Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, The Red Turtle and your name., The Red Turtle being the only one that achieved the nomination. The prize for animated feature film was taken last year by Zootropolis.
