The company Front Wing announced that the game Grisaia: Phantom Trigger will have a sequel, where the story of Vol. 3 of the game will be adapted to the anime. Front Wing will launch an anime funding campaign next June to produce a better quality product. The anime premiered on March 15 at the EJ Anime Theater Shinjuku in Tokyo and at four other theaters in Japan.
The first two episodes of the anime were originally scheduled for simultaneous release in 2018, with Blu-ray discs scheduled for release in December. The rewards for the sponsors of the funding campaign have not yet been sent. Each episode was originally planned with a duration of 60 minutes and a volume of the original visual novel would be adapted.
The anime director Tensho founded the new animation studio Bibury Animation Studio to produce the anime being his first work. Tensho also wrote and supervised the scripts. Akio Watanabe, the original character designer of the Grisaia franchise, served as the character designer and principal animator of the anime. Ryuichiro Yamakawa planned and produced the anime. The Front Wing company funded the anime on its own instead of using a production committee.
Synopsis
Grisaia: Phantom Trigger takes place after the Grisaia trilogy, and presents a whole new group of heroines, as well as a new protagonist. The story follows a class of students from the Mihama Academy, which has been converted by the anti-terrorist organization CIRS into a "specialized training school" for a new generation of operatives.
